CHALLENGE REVEAL-Trash to Treasure

This week's challenge with +LaDenna Lawrence  was definitely a challenge!  lol  I knew what I wanted, but I didn't know how to get there!  Anyone ever see a vision in your head and can't figure out how to make it come true?!

Our challenge was to use the cardboard from a case of water or whatever.   We had decided on a "purse" of some sort.  So, here's my take on it.  I have some changes I am going to make-I will point them out when I get to the pics.

So here's the piece of cardboard I used for the base.

I had this fabric in my stash from previous projects.  I Mod Podged it onto the cardboard.  I didn't love it when I did it, but after completion, it turned out okay.

Letting it dry.

I painted the inside with a mixture of Mod Podge and black acrylic paint.

Here's the finished outside.  I added a large shiny button and glitter to bling it up a little.

I used all re-cycled materials (trash lol).

This is a mini album.  The purpose of my purse is to be an album full of mini albums.  lol  It will be great to put little girl photos in!

These are the photo mats that go in the 'album'.

Every purse has to have
face powder!  I used an empty ribbon spool. (more trash lol).

I covered it in coordinating papers.

And here is the finished compact mini album!

I used a chipboard coaster and made this mini notepad/album.
These photo mats provide a lot of space for photos!

 And of course, a wallet!

Photo mats.

So here's the inside.  I'm going to make some 'keys' and a couple of other accessories to fill in the gaps.  Everything is held in place with magnets right now; but that will probably change as they are not holding as well as I thought.  I'm thinking about "closing" the purse by putting sides on it and just putting accessories in it.  Have to think on this!  lol

Here is LaDenna's take on it.  I LOVE it!
So many adorable accessories!!

I hope you enjoyed our projects.  Next weeks challenge is to use our HAPPY HAUNTINGS Cricut cartridge and make cards/decor for Halloween.  Can't wait to play with this one!

  1. This is great. My grand daughter would love doing something like this. She loves helping me with crafts and making something like this with her pictures in it would be just the thing she would love.

  2. My favorite is the mini album made from the empty spool. What a great use of recyclables! I'm visiting from the Sunday Showcase link party at Pink When.
